SMJK Ave Maria Marching Band was established in 1976, which was 42 years ago. Our band started with only 30 members and brass instruments. The pioneer instructor was Mr. Chua Ang Bee. In 1986, as the number of members and types of instrument increased, our band succeeded in becoming a wind ensemble orchestra and started to participate in Marching Band and Concert Band performances. One of the teacher advisors for that year was Madam Too Swee Lian or well-known as Mrs. Chaw Weng Kong. Her dedication and services were highly appreciated as she gave her full support to the band for 22 years, until her retirement in 2008.

Through the years, AMC Band is grateful to have good and passionate instructors and coaches who gave full support to our band by Mr. Kosin Suebprasitwong from Thailand, his dedication, guidance and supervision have enabled AMC Band to grow stronger in terms of quality and quantity. With his efforts, our band has taken part in numerous performances and competitions at national level. It received a lot of positive criticism and praises from the public.

Since 2008, AMC Marching Band has received allocations from Cluster School Fund. As a result, many musical instruments are upgraded. Currently, AMC Band is one of the major uniform bodies in SMJK Ave Maria Convent. The present teacher advisors are Madam Lee Saw Pheng, Madam Lee Wai Mun, Madam Leong Lok Ping, Madam Goh Saw Lin and Madam Lily A/P S. Rajagobal.
